Abstract
Based on monitoring case histories of soft soil deep excavations row pile support in Hainan, the characteristics of deformation and surface settlement of the retaining wall of soft soil deep excavations in Hainan were studied from a statistical perspective. The results shows that the normalized maximum lateral displacement of the retaining wall in Haina soft soil area is limited when the Factor of safety is large. The location of the maximum lateral deflection of wall occurs above the excavation surface, concentrated between 1/2 of the excavation depth and the excavation surface. The maximum lateral deflection of the retaining wall ranges from 0.08 % to 0.28 % of the excavation depth, with a mean value of 0.18 % of the excavation depth. The maximum ground surface settlement generally range from 0.04 % to 0.26 % of the excavation depth, with a mean value of 0.10 % of the excavation depth. The upper bounds of the ground settlement profiles has been proposed for the case histories in Hainan through statistics. Compared with statistical data from other regions, the conclusions obtained can provide reference for the design and construction of soft soil deep excavations in Hainan.
