Abstract: According to the morphological changes appearing in the postembryonal development of Epinephelus malabaricus (Bloch ＆ Schneider), such as the disappearance of yolk sac, the formation of fins and the appearance of scales etc., and with reference to the general practice home and abroad on division of the postembryonal development period of osteichthyes, the authors divided the postembryonal development period of Epinephelus malabaricus (Bloch ＆ Schneider)into larval stage (including yolk-sac larva and late-stage larva), juvenile stage, and young fish stage. This article presented a detailed description of the morphology of the fish in its various development periods, and recorded the length, weight and growth of Epinephelus malabaricus (Bloch ＆ Schneider)in its various development periods.
