Abstract:
In our report, the upper and lower connecting plates of the isolation bearing were selected as the research objects, and the consulting literature and field investigation were performed. We found that the current use of organic coatings as a long-term anti-corrosion program cannot meet the durability requirements of the project in a special marine atmosphere environment, and may cause the risk of final overall failure of the seismic isolation bearing. The comparative analysis method was used to study three different options of heavy anti-corrosion coating protection, thermal spray protection, and the use of weathering steel. From the perspective of life cycle cost evaluation, the suggestion that the weathering resistant steel should be preferred for the upper and lower connecting plates of seismic isolation bearings in the coastal areas of southern China was proposed.
